CSDS-85 Live Harbour Performance Testing

The Nautel C-Tech CSDS-85 Swimmer Detection Sonar was put through its paces in the St. Lawrence River not far from the Nautel C-Tech factory in Cornwall, Ontario, during June, 2016. One of Nautel C-Tech’s Asian customers who purchased three of these sophisticated systems requested performance data to validate the capabilities of the system prior to undertaking additional tests in a challenging Asian location.

The system was transported to the river, deployed on the river bottom, and divers employed to act as targets. Trial results, recorded for posterity, were no surprise for the intrepid Nautel C-Tech technical staff who were able to detect targets at over one kilometer in range as they conducted their “attacks”. Mission accomplished!

More about the CSDS-85

The CSDS-85 Waterside Security Sonar is a fifth generation, high performance, active omni sonar designed for the detection of underwater intruders. It can be deployed in a single unit configuration for harbour surveillance or can be networked to maximize area coverage. The sonar can be integrated with other sensors to provide a common operational picture of a designated area.
